too see its people, language,
culture, tradition and its natural
beauty. Not only the rafting,
expedition, excursion and trekking-
but also here are numbers of ways
to explore the real Nepal.
If you don't have enough time
to go for long package tour or
if your are physically unfit for
such long package tour or if you
are free and wandering what to
do more- then the below given
recommended optional tours will
definitely help you to make your
visit to Nepal a memorable one.
EVEREST
MOUNTAIN FLIGHT
(Glacier, massif of rocks and
ice from the airplane window)
It
is said that if you are in Rome
and don't see Pyramid- your visit
to Rome is incomplete; If you
don't see Taj Mahal while you
are in India- again your visit
to India is incomplete. Likewise,
if you don't go for the Everest
mountain flight while you are
in Nepal- then your visit to Nepal
becomes meaningless.
For the traveler who is unable
to make a trekking trip to the
mountains either because of lack
of time or physical fitness, there
are mountain flights to stimulate
the experience. The one hour flight
takes you within camera range
of some of the highest peaks in
the world, cruising this close
to the awe-inspiring massifs of
rock and ice, is an out -of- this
earth experience. The aircraft
takes off and heads eastward and
almost immediately, the peaks
come into view. You can see uncountable
mountain peaks that are above
6000 meter. Finally, there is
Mount Everest (8,848m), called
'Sagarmatha' by the Nepalis and
'Chomolungma' by the Tibetans.
Above all, it is gives a different
feeling- a thrilling excitement
as one comes face to face with
the world's tallest and most enigmatic
of mountains " The Everest".
PARAGLIDING
"Fly above the sky with eagles
as a guide".
Paragliding
in this Himalayan country can
be a truly wonderful and fulfilling
experience unparalleled scenic
grandeur as you share airspace
with Himalayan griffin vultures,
eagles, kites, while floating
over villages, monasteries, temples,
lakes and jungles with the a fantastic
view of the majestic Himalayas.
Paragliding is a relatively new
adventure sport in Nepal. The
last three years have seen the
activity flourish in Pokhara.
The flight takes off from the
top of Sarangkot hill and lands
on the coast of lake Phewa. For
the free flight enthusiasts, it
is really a wonderful trip while
you are in Pokhara.
ULTRA
LIGHT AIRCRAFT
(A winged motorbike above the
sky)
For
those who wish they could fly
like birds, this flight is a must.
Leave your woes behind on earth,
soar to heights, bathe in the
clouds, reach out for the mountains
and kiss the azure sky. It might
be lonely at the top, but the
spectacular view from high up
there certainly makes up for everything.
You forget yourself for some moments.
This Ultralight aircraft was introduced
in Nepal in 1996, and the operator
has been offering sight seeing
tours in Pokhara valley. The choice
of Pokhara for ultra- light aircraft
is appropriate chiefly because
of the proximity of the mountains,
and the scenic lakes.
BUNGY
JUMP
(Wild jump from the high bridge)
The
sport has finally found a natural
home in the highest mountain range
in the world. The ultimate thrill
of the bungy jump can now be experienced
in Nepal at perhaps the site in
the world.
Nepal's first bungy jumping site
is situated 160 m over the wild
Bhote Koshi river, and localated
close to the Nepal- Tibet border,
a three hours bus ride from Kathmandu.
A jump can be arranged in arrival
in Kathmandu. The jump, at 160m,
was desined by one of Newzerland's
leading bungy consultants, and
is operated by some of the most
experienced jump-masters in the
business. It's mishap- proof.
The agency takes safety very,
very seriously!
HIKING
AROUND POKHARA
There
are several hiking routes but
basically we recommend three routes;
Sarangkot, Foksing and Peace Pgoda.
Sarangkot is to the north of Pokhara
city. It gives fantastic view
of the lake, city and Annapurna
range. The view form world peace
pagoda is more beautiful. And,
the Foksing hike also gives a
panoramic mountain view from Ganesh
himal from east to Nilgiri to
the south. All the three hiking
spots take about three hours to
complete. These trails are the
most remarkable hiking trails
in Pokhra. All the spots are close
nearby however the excitement
differs.
