Kalapatthar
Everest View Trek 16 Days
No doubt, every visitor has a
dream to see Mt. Everest from
the very proximity. Keeping this
dream, adventure lover trek up
to Kalapatthar 5545 m. The trail-
heads east winding up and down
forested slopes, pastures and
villages inhabited by various
ethnic groups. Entering the Dudh
Koshi river valley, we turn north
and follow the river upstream
to Monjo and on to Namche Bazaar
in the Sherpa heartland. We continue
trekking sharing the trail with
yak caravans passing Tyangboche
monastery and on to Pheriche across
alpine meadows above the tree
line. We are in very high country
now and the route continues along
the Khumbu glacier to Gorakshep.
The summit of Kalapatther (5,545
m) is a steep ascent and provides
the best vantage point to view
Everest. The vista of the tallest
mountain on earth from here is
awe-inspiring. We walk back to
Lukla and then fly to Kathmandu.
